UTEP T&F Set to Compete at C-USA Championships in San Antonio May 12-15

The UTEP track and field team will travel to San Antonio, Texas, to compete at the 2022 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the UTSA Park West Athletics Complex on May 12-15.

Heading into this weekend’s championships, the UTEP men are ranked second (154.5 points) behind favorite Charlotte (176 points). The women are ranked fourth (105.5), behind UTSA (109.25), Middle Tennessee (113) and Charlotte (125.75).

Competing for the Miners on the women’s side are Loubna Benhadja (400m H, 4×100, 4×400), Chinique Brown (200m, 400m, 4×100, 4×400), Oghenekaro Brume (200m, 400m, 4×100, 4×400), Maribel Caicedo (200m, 100m H, 4×100, 4×400), Carolyne Chepkosgei (800m, 1500m, 4×400), Samantha Cordier (hammer, shot put), Karoline Daland (1500m, 5000m, 3000m steeplechase), Carshaylah Harrison (400m H, 4×100, 4×400), Krishna Jayasankar Menon (shot put, discus), Ruth Jerubet (5000m, 10K), Celina Johannsen (pole vault), Joan Kimaiyo (5000m, 10K), Kayla Larry (shot put, hammer, discus), Denae McFarlane (100m, 200m, 4×100, 4×400), Arianne Morais (javelin, shot put), Victoria Ovalles (5000m, 10K), Marissa Simpson (100m H, 4×100, 4×400), Sah-Jay Stevens (hammer, shot put, discus), Karen Villa Medina (heptathlon) and Roosa Yloenen (javelin).

Making the trip for the men are Gabriel Armijo (5000m, 10K), Ned Azemia (400m H, 4×100, 4×400), Jakub Belik (high jump), Daniel Bernal (1500m, 5000m), Jalen Cadet (decathlon, 200m, javelin, long jump, 4×100, 4×400, Stephen Carreto (400m H, 4×100, 4×400), Titus Cheruiyot (5000m, 10K), Benjamin Coronado (hammer, shot put, discus), Karon Dean (100m, 200m, 4×100, 4×400), Ronaldo Griffiths (400m H, 4×100, 4×400), Aleks Hristov (hammer, shot put, discus), Dennis Johnson (100m, 200, 4×100), Maxwell Kipkosgei (800m, 1500m), Rodgers Korir (5000m, 10K), Yusuf Mohamud (800m, 1500m), Juan Olmos (5000m, 3000m steeplechase), Misael Ortiz (hammer, shot put, discus), Jevaughn Powell (200m, 400m, 4×100, 4×400), Emilio Rios Jr. (high jump), Michael Sims (1500m, 5000m), Kenneth Talavera (800m, 1500m, 5000m), Aman Verma (200m, 4×100, 4×400), Maurice Westmoreland (discus, shot put), Osaze Williams (800m, 5000m) and Jordani Woodley (110m H, 400m H).

Competition will open on Thursday with the heptathlon at 2:45 p.m. CT/1:45 MT, and the decathlon at 3:15 p.m. CT/2:15 MT.

Friday’s events will start at 2 p.m. CT/1 MT with the men’s hammer throw, while the hep and decathlon will conclude.

Saturday’s field events start at 1 p.m. CT/Noon MT with the men’s discus, while running events will start at 5:30 p.m. CT/4:30 MT with the men’s 1500-meter preliminaries.

Sunday’s final day will start at 1 p.m. CT/Noon MT with the men’s shot put, while the running events will start at 6 p.m. CT/5 MT with the men’s 4×100-meter relay.
