UTEP Track & Field’s Kevin Hewitt Announced as Winter Spirit of Service Award Recipient

 Conference USA announced its Winter Spirit of Service Award winners Thursday, as UTEP track and field’s Kevin Hewitt was honored to the list.

The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport.

Hewitt is a political science major and spends his time in the community working with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank, a local organization dedicated to combating the hunger crisis in the region by strategically procuring and distributing nutritious food.

The sophomore sprinter is also a Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection with his 3.09 GPA. On the track, Hewitt was a member of the 4×400-meter relay team that captured gold at the C-USA outdoor championships. He also competed in the 2021 NCAA D1 West Preliminaries 4×400, while also competing at nationals in the same event at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
