UTEP Volleyball earns AVCA Academic Award

For the fourth year in a row, UTEP’s volleyball program has been recognized for academic excellence by earning the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

According to department officials, UTEP Volleyball posted a 3.56 team GPA during the 2019-20 academic year, including a 3.66 GPA just during the spring semester.

In May, the Miners had 17 players named to Conference USA’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Additionally, 10 of those volleyball student-athletes earned the Commissioner’s Academic Medal for a 3.75 or better GPA.

Season tickets for the 2020 season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (915) 747-UTEP, emailing tickets@utep.edu, or online.

Tickets are just $60 for adults and $35 for youth and gain entry to all home matches.
