UTEP volleyball’s Baumgartner named to C-USA All-Freshman Team

UTEP volleyball’s Kylie Baumgartner was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

This is the second All-Freshman honor in head coach Holly Watts’s tenure.

Baumgartner, Kylie headshot“Kylie has been rightly rewarded by the coaches of C-USA for her contributions to our team this year,” head coach Holly Watts said. “The consistency of her blocking numbers throughout the conference season is what gave strength to her as a nominee. I am looking forward to seeing Kylie use this as a spring board for an even greater sophomore season.”

The middle blocker has played in 113 sets and started in all 31 matches in 2015. Baumgartner ranks second in the league and first on the squad in blocks per set (1.11) and 125 total blocks.

The freshman notched her first double-double of her career with 11 kills and 10 blocks versus Southern Miss (10/23).

UTEP (9-22, 3-13 C-USA) will play its final home game of 2015 against NM State (25-5, 14-0 WAC) on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. in Memorial Gym.
