UTEP Women’s Golf finishes outside Top 10 at Aggie Invitational

LAS CRUCES – The UTEP women’s golf team finished in 11th place (out of 20 teams) at the 2021 Aggie Invitational at NM State Golf Course (par 72, 6420 yards) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Miners shot 44-over par, 908 (301, 308, 299). Incarnate Word captured the team title at 1-under par, 863. Host NM State placed second at even par, 864. CSU Bakersfield finished 20th at 131-over par, 995.

Sophie Delfosse finished as the top Miner. Delfosse placed tied for 36th (out of 104 competitors) shooting 9-over par, 225 (74, 76, 75). Marta Romeu Chen (226), Andrea Ostos (227). Naomi Ramirez (231) and Ines Dakiche (242) rounded out the finishers for UTEP.

Ostos shot 3-under par on par 5 holes, ranking tied ninth best. Delfosse tallied 38 pars, while Romeu Chen penciled in six birdies.

Incarnate Word’s Ellen Nicholas won the individual title, shooting 8-under par, 208. NM State’s Amelia McKee (6-under par, 210) and Seattle’s Keisha Lugito (4-under par, 212) rounded out the top three finishers.

The ladies will close out the fall portion of the schedule at the Jupiter Invitational on Oct. 16-18 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
