UTEP Women’s Golf Opens C-USA Championship in Third Place

FORT MYERS, FL. – The UTEP women’s golf team is in third place with 18 holes complete at the 2018 Conference USA Championships on Monday in Fort Myers.

The Miners shot 300 as a team on day one, putting them six strokes back of tournament leader UTSA (294) and one behind second-place Middle Tennessee (299). 

A pair of Miners — Abbie Anghelescu and Valeria Mendizabal — shot a two-over-par 74 on Monday, leaving them tied for sixth place.  WKU’s Georgina Blackman carded a three-under 69 to pace the field.

UTEP’s Lily Downs is tied for 12th place (75), June Ting is tied for 27th place (77), and Shannon O’Dwyer is in 60th place (89).

The tournament continues with 18 holes on Tuesday and 18 more on Wednesday.
