The UTEP women’s golf team will open its 2021 campaign at the USA Intercollegiate at RTJ Magnolia Grove – Crossings Course on Sept. 4-6.
UTEP will compete against host South Alabama, UAB, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Georgia Stats, Houston Baptist, Lamar, ULM, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Sam Houston State, South Florida, Southern Miss, UTA, Troy and WKU.
“It’s the first time we’re competing at South Alabama. We’re looking forward to getting the season off to a good start,” UTEP Head Coach Jere Pelletier said. “We have four returners and one freshman competing this weekend. Unfortunately, one of my sophomores is hurt and won’t make the trip. But our freshman taking her place will do a good job.”
Making the trip for the Miners are sophomore Ines Dakiche, junior Sophie Delfosse, junior Andrea Ostos, senior Naomi Ramirez and freshman Marta Romeu.
Delfosse, who earned All-Conference USA third team honors, played in five tournaments during the 2021 Spring season. The native of Valenciennes, France, led the Miners with a 75.0 average. Dakiche played in four tournaments, while Ostos and Ramirez each saw action in three events during the spring season. Romeu will make her collegiate debut on Saturday.
