UTEP Women’s Golf Stays in Third at C-USA Championship

FORT MYERS, FL. – The UTEP women’s golf team maintained its hold on third place following day two of the Conference USA Championships at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers on Tuesday.

With a 20-over-par 596 (300-296), the Miners are 10 strokes behind first-place UTSA (294-292-586), and six behind second-place Old Dominion (301-289-590).

UTEP’s Lily Downs is right in the thick of the individual title chase. Her two-over-par 146 (75-71) leaves her three strokes back of first-place UTSA teammates Julie Houston (73-70-143) and Ana Gonzalez (70-73-143).

The Miners’ Abbie Anghelescu is tied for 12th place (74-76-150), Valeria Mendizabal is tied for 21st place (74-78-152), June Ting is tied for 27th place (77-76-153) and Shannon O’Dwyer is tied for 52nd place (89-73-162).

The final 18 holes will be contested on Wednesday.
