UTEP Women’s Golf Takes the Lead at Payne Stewart Memorial

SPRINGFIELD, MO. — The UTEP women’s golf team tops the 15-team field with 36 holes in the books at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Mo.

The Miners shot 599 as a team on Monday (301-298) and have a 10-stroke lead on second-place South Dakota State (301-308-609) with 18 holes remaining on Tuesday.  Missouri State is in third place (308-303-611).

UTEP’s June Ting is tied for first place after shooting a three-over-par 145 (75-70) on Monday.

South Dakota’s Brenna Lervick also carded a 145.

The Miners’ Alisa Rodriguez is in third place (73-74-147), Lily Downs is tied for 10th place (74-78-152), newcomer Crystal Wu is tied for 27th place (79-76-155) and Sofia Castiello is tied for 35th place (79-78-157).

It is UTEP’s first tournament of the 2016-17 season.
