SPRINGFIELD, MO. — The UTEP women’s golf team was unable to hold a 10-stroke lead as South Dakota State rallied to win the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday in Springfield, Mo.
The Miners’ final round score of 300 was on par with the 301 and 298 that they shot on the tournament’s first day, but the Jackrabbits fired a sizzling, tournament-low 287 on Tuesday to capture the championship. UTEP finished at 899 over 54 holes to SDSU’s 896. Oral Roberts took third place (904) at the 15-team event.
Two Miners tied for third place as Alisa Rodriguez (73-74-74) and June Ting (75-70-76) both carded an eight-over-par 221. Lily Downs tied for 16th place (74-78-76-228), Crystal Wu tied for 20th place (79-76-74-229) and Sofia Castiello tied for 38th place (79-78-77-234).
