LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The UTEP women’s golf team remains in second place through 36 holes of the NM State Aggie Invitational, although the point totals have tightened to set up a wild final day of the tournament.
Sacramento State is comfortably in first place (287-298-585) with a 10-stroke lead on the Miners (294-301-595). But UC Riverside (304-292-596), host NM State (306-292-598), Cal State Fullerton (307-294-601) and Santa Clara (301-302-603) are all within shouting distance of UTEP.
The tournament will wrap up on Wednesday with the final round.
The Miners’ Lily Downs matched her first-round 71 on Tuesday and is tied for first place in the individual standings with a two-under-par 142. Weber State’s Kiselya Plewe also carded a 142 (71-71).
UTEP’s Audrey Haddad (71-77-148) and June Ting (75-73-148) are tied for 10th place. Valeria Mendizabal is tied for 34th place (77-80-157), and Abbie Anghelescu is tied for 37th place (77-82-159).
Competing as individuals, the Miners’ Shannon O’Dwyer is tied for 20th place (73-78-151), Taylor Stone is in 36th place (76-82-158), Crystal Wu is tied for 42nd place (81-79-160).
