UTEP Women’s Golf Team Sits Second at NMSU Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The UTEP women’s golf team is in second place through 18 holes of the NM State Aggie Invitational on Monday in Las Cruces.

The Miners shot 294 in round one and sit seven strokes out of first place, with Sacramento State heading the field (287). Santa Clara and UTRGV are tied for third place (301).

A pair of Miners are tied for second place as Lily Downs and Audrey Haddad each shot a one-under-par 71. Sacramento State’s Astha Madan leads the field with a two-under 70 with 36 holes remaining.

UTEP’s June Ting is tied for 16th place (75), while Abbie Anghelescu and Valeria Mendizabal are tied for 25th place (77). A trio of Miners are competing as individuals. Freshman Shannon O’Dwyer, making her collegiate debut, is tied for eighth place (73). Another freshman making her initial appearance for UTEP, Taylor Stone is tied for 19th place (76). Crystal Wu is tied for 46th place (81).

The tournament continues Tuesday and Wednesday with 18 holes each day.
