UTEP Women’s Golf Team Snags 10th Place at Hawaii Tournament

KANE’OHE, O’AHU – The UTEP women’s golf team shot progressively better scores over the course of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Wednesday in Hawaii and finished in 10th place at the tournament.

The Miners fired rounds of 323, 312 and 303 for a total of 938. Sixth-ranked Texas won the 13-team tournament (293-296-294-883), with no. 17 Oklahoma State second (303-300-304-907) and no. 24 Houston third (312-305-296-913).

UTEP’s Abbie Anghelescu tied for 20th place with a 14-over-par 230 (79-74-77). Valeria Mendizabal tied for 24th place (78-79-74-231), Lily Downs tied for 35th place (83-79-75-237), June Ting tied for 44th place (83-80-77-240) and Taylor Stone finished in 55th place (86-80-81-247).

The champion was Texas’ Kaitlyn Papp with a three-under 213 (71-74-68).

The Miners’ next tournament is the Little Rock/A-State Invitational March 26-27 in Little Rock, Ar.
