UTEP Women’s Golf Team Snags Eighth at NM State Invitational

The UTEP Women’s Golf Team matched its best round of the young season on Wednesday at the NM State Aggie Invitational.
The Miners shot 298 as a team, duplicating their score from round two of the Bob Hurley Shootout on Sept. 28 in Tulsa.  UTEP finished eighth at the NMSU Tournament with a total of 903 (303-302-298).
BYU was champion of the 14-team event (282-287-290-859), with NMSU second (288-285-291-864) and Idaho third (296-292-297-885).
The individual champion was NMSU’s Viviana Macias, who shot a six-under-par 210 (67-72-71) on her home course.
UTEP’s Alisa Rodriguez tied for 10th place at three-over par (73-75-71-219), and Patricia Rico-Avello tied for 32nd place (77-71-78-226).  Sofia Castiello (78-77-74-229) and June Ting (75-79-75-229) tied for 40th place.
The Miners have two fall tournaments remaining — the Blue Raider Invitational Oct. 19-20 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and the UALR/Arkansas State Invitational Nov. 2-3 in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
