The UTEP Women’s Golf Team matched its best round of the young season on Wednesday at the NM State Aggie Invitational.
The Miners shot 298 as a team, duplicating their score from round two of the Bob Hurley Shootout on Sept. 28 in Tulsa. UTEP finished eighth at the NMSU Tournament with a total of 903 (303-302-298).
BYU was champion of the 14-team event (282-287-290-859), with NMSU second (288-285-291-864) and Idaho third (296-292-297-885).
The individual champion was NMSU’s Viviana Macias, who shot a six-under-par 210 (67-72-71) on her home course.
UTEP’s Alisa Rodriguez tied for 10th place at three-over par (73-75-71-219), and Patricia Rico-Avello tied for 32nd place (77-71-78-226). Sofia Castiello (78-77-74-229) and June Ting (75-79-75-229) tied for 40th place.
The Miners have two fall tournaments remaining — the Blue Raider Invitational Oct. 19-20 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and the UALR/Arkansas State Invitational Nov. 2-3 in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
