A solid performance over the first two rounds on Monday has UTEP women’s golf in a tie for fourth heading into the final round tomorrow at the HBU Husky Invitational at the Riverbend Country Club.
The Miners earned a spot towards the top of the leaderboard throughout the day, including leading the field at multiple points and sitting in a tie for second after a first-round score of 305.
Looking for her first top-10 finish of the season and the second of her career, Andrea Ostos impressed throughout the day for UTEP. The native of Chihuahua, Mexico is tied for fifth with a 7-over par after shooting 151 (74, 77) over the first two rounds.
Following a finish of second in the event last year, Sophie Delfosse is tied for 15th with a 10-over par 154 (75, 79).
Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic (158), Marta Romeu Chen (158) and Ella Hammond-Baveystock (160) are each in the top-40 of participants in the field of 76.
As a team, UTEP shot 315 in the second round and is tied with UTRGV and South Dakota at 620.
Houston Baptist, the host of the tournament, resides in first after day one with a 605 (295, 310) tally through two rounds of play. Preaw Nontarux of USC Upstate is 1-over par to lead the field by four strokes.
Round three gets underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
