The UTEP women’s track and field team garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors with a team GPA of 3.16.
Koech holds a 3.50 GPA in biology. The Kenyan native, ranked 36th nationally in the 1,500m with a time of 4:18.72 posted during the C-USA Outdoor Championships. She went on to compete in the NCAA West Preliminaries and finished 14th overall.
The junior ranked 46th nationally in the indoor mile with a time of 4:47.29 registered at the MLK Invitational. The distance runner went on to claim gold in the mile, gold in the distance medley relay and bronze in the 3,000m at the Conference USA Indoor Championships.
Mokrasova holds a 3.64 GPA in health promotion. The senior ranked 27th nationally in the heptathlon with 5,523 points registered at the C-USA Outdoor Championships. During the indoor season, Mokrasova rated 32nd nationally in the pentathlon with a total of 3,964 points.
Gibson sports a 3.70 GPA in biology. The sophomore helped the distance medley relay claim first place at the C-USA Indoor Championships. She also led the 4x400m relay team to a silver finish at the C-USA Outdoor Championships. Gibson also aided the 4x400m relay team to a season best of 3:40.20 at the Desert Heart Classic.
On the men’s side, Rasmus Maukonen represents the Miners on the USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees with a 3.52 GPA in multidisciplinary studies. He claimed second place at the Texas Invitational with a toss of 58.20m in the javelin.
