UTEP XC Set to Compete at C-USA Championships Saturday Morning in Charlotte

The UTEP cross country team will take the course at the 2021 Conference USA Championships hosted by Charlotte at Frank Liske Park on Saturday morning.

The men’s 8K race will start at 9 a.m. ET/7 MT, while the women’s 6K event will shoot off at 10 a.m. ET/8 MT.

“The team has prepared well by participating and doing well during the regular season meets that we took part in,” UTEP Head Coach Paul Ereng said. “Our athletes were exposed to a high level of competition during the season. It was a great way of giving them opportunity to prepare for the conference championships. Our team understands that this is one of our most important meet of the season and as such we shall put forward our very best effort.”

Making the trip for the men’s team are Gabriel Armijo, Titus Cheruiyot, Maxwell Kipkosgei, Rodgers Korir, Yusuf Mohamud, Juan Olmos, Michael Sims and Kenneth Talavera. The Miners are ranked no. 11 in the Mountain Region heading into the championships.

Traveling for the women are Carolyne Chepkosgei, Karoline Daland, Ruth Jerubet, Joan Kimaiyo, Jacquilyn Orozco and Victoria Ovalles.
