STILLWATER, Oklahom – UTEP’s Karoline Daland registered her top-career time in the women’s 6K as the UTEP cross country team finished its second competition of the season in the 2020 OSU Invitational hosted by Oklahoma State at the OSU Cross Country Course.
Daland clocked in a 22:17.8, placing 23rd as the top Miner on the women’s side. Carolyne Chepkosgei (45th) recorded a 23:43.5, while Joan Kimaiyo (47th) clocked in a 23:44.0. Andrea Lucero (25:30.9), Valerie Gonzalez (26:04.2), and Jacquilyn Orozco (27:27.7) rounded out the UTEP women’s side.
Titus Cheruiyot finished as the top Miner on the men’s side, registering a 24:53.3 and placing 33rd out of 95 competitors. Rodgers Korir finished 37th with a time of 24:55.0.
Kenneth Talavera (26:18.3), Boaz Ronoh (26:52.9), Michael Sims (27:16.3), Cornelius Kapel (28:12.9), UTEP newcomer Yusuf Mohamud (28:37.0) rounded out UTEP’s finishers.
Northern Arizona won the men’s team title with 36 points, while Luis Grijava of NAU won the men’s individual title with a time of 23:30.2. UTEP finished in sixth with 185 points ahead of Oklahoma Christian (209) and Oklahoma (230).
BYU won the women’s team championship with 22 points. BYU’s Whittni Orton won the individual women’s race with a time of 20:27.8. UTEP placed in sixth with 160 points ahead of Oklahoma Christian.
UTEP will complete the 2020 season at the Conference USA Championships on Saturday, October 31 in Birmingham, Alabama
