UTEP XC Set to compete at 2020 C-USA Championships Halloween Morning

The UTEP cross country squad is set to compete at the 2020 Conference USA Championships on Saturday, October 31. The championships will be hosted by UAB at Veterans Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

The women’s 6K race will start at 8 a.m. MT/9 CT, while the men’s 8K event will begin at 9 a.m. MT/10 CT.

Making the trip on the men’s side are Titus Cheruiyot, Rodgers Korir, Yusuf Mohamud, Boaz Ronoh, Michael Sims and Kenneth Talavera. Traveling for the women are Carolyne Chepkosgei, Karoline Daland, Valerie Gonzalez, Joan Kimaiyo, Andrea Lucero and Jacquilyn Orozco.

The Miners will be competing against Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, FIU, LA Tech, Marshall, MT, North Texas, Rice, Southern Miss, UAB, UTSA and WKU.

The first 21 finishers will be designated to First (1-7), Second (8-14) and Third (15-21) All-Conference USA Team

Last season, the women finished in third place, while the men placed fourth. Cheruiyot finished third on the men’s side while his performance earned him the C-USA Freshman of the Meet.

Korir registered a sixth-place finish. On the women’s side, Chepkosgei placed seventh, while Daland crossed the finish line in 14th.
