UTEP’s Amusan, Maukonen Have Strong Showings on Day Three of Texas Relays

Austin, Texas – Tobi Amusan continued her brilliance in the 100m hurdles on Friday morning at the 89th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Amusan clocked a time of 13.27 to finish with the No. 1 qualifying time in the prelims in a field of 65 runners. The Nigerian will run in the finals tomorrow at 1:20 p.m. (MT) and it will be televised on the Longhorn Network.

Rasmus Maukonen had another solid effort in the javelin throw. The Finland cleared the 70-meter mark with a toss of 70.12m (230-01) to place fifth in a competitive field of 14 throwers.

The women’s 4x100m relay team of Tyler Ragin, Amusan, Bria Love and Florence Uwakwe narrowly missed qualifying for the finals by less than a second. The squad ran a time of 46.21 to finish 13th in a field of 40 teams (top nine qualify for finals).

Sven Zellner placed 16th out of 54 runners in the 110m hurdles with a wind-aided time of 14.45.

Jonah Koech will run his second race of the week tomorrow afternoon in the Jerry Thompson Mile Invitational (professional runners included) at 2:45 p.m. (MT).

The women’s 4x400m relay team will also compete in the Invitational at 3:45 p.m. (MT). All events will be aired live on the Longhorn Network.
