Irving, Texas – UTEP cross country’s Antony Kosgei was voted to the Conference USA All-Academic team on Thursday morning. Kosgei was awarded for his notable performance in the classroom and impressive athleticism on the course.
The three-time first team all-conference honoree, Kosgei dons a 3.42 while studying industrial engineering. The junior standout has competed in all seven competitions for the Orange and Blue this season, taking first place in a dual meet against Texas Tech and garnered three second-place finishes.
The Eldoret, Kenya, native is coming off a ninth-place finish at the C-USA Championship on Oct. 28. Following his performance in Hattiesburg, Miss., Kosgei will be a factor on the course as the Miners are set to run in the 10K event at the Mountain Regionals on Friday, Nov. 10 in Logan, Utah.
The 2017 C-USA All-Academic Team is made up of 12 total athletes (six males and six female) who are able to maintain a GPA of a 3.2 or higher, and contribute influential success to their respective team’s efforts.
