UTEP’s Dreier Places Tied Sixth at Conference Championships

Texarkana, Ark. – Junior Frederik Dreier wrapped up the Conference USA Championships tied for sixth place at two-over par 218 (73-73-72); it is his second top-10 finish at the conference tournament in the last three years.

The Miners wound up finishing two spots and five strokes out of the desired fourth-place position to wrap up their 2015-16 season. No. 38 UAB will take on UTSA and LA Tech will face off against North Texas in the match play portion on Wednesday.

UTEP as a team fired rounds of 302, 292 and 293 as a team to finish at 23-over par.

Dreier’s final round of even par had two birdies, 14 pars and two bogeys. Dreier finished the tournament tied fourth in par 3 scoring (3.08/+1). It was the Denmark native’s fifth top-10 showing of the year and the eighth time he was UTEP’s top finisher.

Charlie Corner (76-74-74-224/+8) finished tied for 22nd, Nicklas Pihl (81-70-75-226/+10) placed tied 29th, Andreas Sorenson (72-79-81-232/+16) ended up tied for 48th and Ben Getman (86-75-72-233/+17) finished tied for 52nd.

NCAA Regional selections will be announced on May 5.
