UTEP’s Frederik Dreier Closes Out Junior Year With 57th Place Finish

Albuquerque, N.M. – Frederik Dreier wrapped up a sensational year on Wednesday afternoon at the UNM Championship Golf Course. The Conference USA Golfer of the Year registered a 57th place finish at the Albuquerque Regional with a 23-over par 239 (79-83-77).

Dreier fired his best round of the three-day regional with a closing round of five-over par 77. The course played tough once again on day three as only five of the 75 players in the field were able to go under par. Dreier was able to roll in three birdies during round three on holes six, 14 and 18.

Jon Rahm (Arizona State) was the wire to wire champion and ended up shooting four-under par (69-71-72-212).

Dreier ends the season with a career best scoring average of 72.4. He earned five-top 10 finishes and one 11-20 finish during the season and he was UTEP’s top finisher in eight of 11 events.

Dreier will headline a young, but talented returning group of players for 2016-17.
