Gladys Jerotich wasted no time making a splash for the Orange and Blue and has been named the Conference USA Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
The native Kenyan cruised to a victory in the 4.5K Texas Tech Open last Friday with a time of 17:26.00; she outworked 35 other runners to register her first victory for UTEP.
“I think it was a good opening for Gladys,” head coach Paul Ereng noted. “Gladys showed no fear and was not afraid to run with the other athletes.”
The Miners will host their only home meet of the season this Friday afternoon at the Chamizal National Park.
