UTEP’s Jones Garners National Player of the Week Honorable Mention

Aaron Jones received The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week Honorable Mention on Tuesday.

The running back only saw action in two and a half quarters and racked up 228 rushing yards (16.3 avg.) on 14 carries and two touchdowns. The junior ran for 119 yards in the first quarter making it the fifth time in his career that he reached 100-plus yards during a single quarter.

Jones scored a pair of touchdowns, giving the junior 27 rushing scores in his career.

He now ranks no. 2 on the program’s all-time rushing list with 3,509 and only needs 68 yards to surpass John Harvey (3,576). Jones also rates first in the Conference USA in rushing (129.8 yards per game).

The Miners will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 4 p.m. MT.
