UTEP junior Valeria Mendizabal has been named the Conference USA Female Golfer of the Week after her performance for the Miners at this week’s Pat Bradley Invitational.
Mendizabal shot in the 60s for two of the three rounds this week in Lakewood Ranch, finishing the event with the lowest three-round total of her career (208). Her round of 67 (-5) on the second day marked a new career-low for the junior, who ended the tournament in fourth place individually.
Mendizabal followed that up by shooting 69 (-3) in the final round to finish 8-under-par (72, 67, 69) over the course of three rounds. As a team, the Miners finished seventh out of 17 teams.
UTEP is set to close out the fall season next week when the Miners travel to compete in the Little Rock Classic on Oct. 27-29 in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
