Video+Info: TxDOT, Connect10 closures, detours for Week of February 14

TxDOT El Paso crew continue to make progress on the projects around the area, so closures and detours abound. 

Daytime and nighttime closures are scheduled next week so crews can install closed-circuit television cameras and install or remove overhead signs as part of the I-10 Connect Project.

Officials also remind drivers that the the Montana traffic switch is set for next week.  The video below explains exactly what will happen.

Montana Frontage Road Project

Tuesday, Feb. 16 (complete closure)

9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (overnight)

  • Montana Avenue westbound complete closure between Saul Kleinfeld Drive to Lee Trevino Drive
  • Montana Avenue westbound traffic will need to find an alternate route

Crews will be striping new frontage road and transitioning intersections

Tuesday, Feb. 16 [TRAFFIC SWITCH]

9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (overnight)

  • Montana Avenue eastbound closure between Lee Trevino Drive to Saul Kleinfeld Drive to include closure of intersections at Lee Trevino Drive, George Dieter Drive, Lee Boulevard and Saul Kleinfeld Drive and all turn arounds will be permanently closed
  • Traffic traveling northbound on Saul Kleinfeld Drive to Montana Avenue will only be allowed to turn right at intersection and continue east
  • Traffic traveling northbound on George Dieter Drive to Montana Avenue will only be allowed to turn right at intersection and continue east
  • Traffic traveling northbound on Lee Boulevard to Montana Avenue will only be allowed to turn right at intersection and continue east
  • Traffic traveling northbound on Lee Trevino Drive to Montana Avenue will only be allowed to turn right at intersection and continue east
  • Traveling public will only be allowed to travel east on roadway and all turnarounds will be permanently closed

Crews will be striping new frontage road and transitioning intersections.

 

Guardrail Repair Project

Monday, February 15

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-10 eastbound between Mesa and Sunland Park left lane closed.
  • I-10 eastbound between Yandell and Cotton/Dallas exit ramp right lane closed.

Tuesday, February 16

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Loop 375 (Transmountain) eastbound at Kenworthy/Gateway South exit ramp complete closure.

Wednesday, February 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Gateway South at Trowbridge on-ramp complete closure.

Thursday, February 18

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-10 westbound between Raynolds and Ramp A (I-10 west to US-54 north) right lane closed.

Friday, February 19

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-10 westbound between Vinton turnaround and I-10 eastbound complete closure.

Miscellaneous Concrete

Tuesday, February 16 through Wednesday, February 17

Nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • I-10 eastbound between Raynolds and Trowbridge left lane closed.
  • I-10 westbound from Geronimo and Paisano left lane closed.
  • Crews will be repairing concrete barrier.

Maintenance

Tuesday, February 16 through Friday, February 19

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • US-62/180 (Montana) eastbound between Geronimo and Airport left lane closed.
  • Crews will be installing delineators.
  • Loop 375 (Transmountain) northbound and US-54 entrance ramp closed.
  • Crews will be removing graffiti.
  • Ramp D (US-54 south to I-10 east) alternate lane closures.
  • Ramp J (US-54 north to I-10 east) closed.
  • Crews will be striping.

 

Bridge Maintenance Project

Sunday, February 14 through Thursday, February 18

Nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • I-10 westbound at Piedras bridge complete closure.
  • All traffic directed to Copia exit.
  • Crews will be replacing armor joints.

 

Transmountain Project

Daily until further notice.

  • Transmountain west and eastbound between US-54 and Tom Mays State Park reduced to one lane in both directions.  Bike lane closed.
  • Crews will be working on roadway, guardrail, asphalt repair, and concrete placement.

Thursday, February 11 through Friday, February 12

9 a.m. to 12 midnight

  • Transmountain eastbound between Paseo del Norte and Gateway South at US-54 complete closure.
  • Loop 375 eastbound between Resler to Paseo del Norte left shoulder closed.
  • Loop 375 westbound between Tom Mays State Park to Resler left shoulder closed.
  • Loop 375 east and westbound alternate lane closures.
  • Crews will be working on emergency repairs on damaged guardrail.

Saturday, February 13

9 a.m. to 10 p.m. (or until contractor finishes)

  • Transmountain eastbound between Paseo del Norte and Gateway South at US-54 complete closure.
  • Crews will be working on emergency repairs on damaged guardrail.

Mesa Rehabilitation Project

Sunday, February 14 through Thursday, February 18

Nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Mesa northbound between Festival and Brentwood complete closure.
  • Crews will be setting up barriers and milling.

 

I-10 Connect

Monday, February 15, from 9am to 5pm

  • The onramp from Gateway Boulevard North to northbound Interstate 110 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Continue on Gateway North, turn right on SH 20 (Alameda Avenue), turn left on Raynolds Street.
  • Crews will be placing overhead signs.

Tuesday, February 16, from 9am to 5pm

  • Exit 23B, from westbound I-10 to US 62/180 (Paisano Drive), will be closed to all traffic
  • DETOUR: Take Exit 24 (Geronimo Drive).
  • Lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West at Paisano.
  • Crews will be doing electrical work.

Wednesday, February 17, from 9am to 4pm

  • Exit 20, from westbound I-10 to Cotton Street, will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Take Exit 21 (Piedras Street).
  • Crews will be working on closed-circuit television cameras.

Thursday, February 18, from 9pm to 5am

  • Northbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic between Loop 375 and Yandell Drive.
  • Ramp T which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic.
  • The onramp from Gateway Boulevard North to northbound Interstate 110 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Continue on Gateway North, turn right on SH 20 (Alameda Avenue), turn left on Raynolds Street.
  • Crews will be removing an overhead sign.
