Video+Story: City Announces Pokémon Catch ‘em All Events in Parks

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department has Pokémon fever and will be hosting a number of events from now through autumn for players to Catch ’em All!

The first Pokémon Catch ‘em All event will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, August 19, at Eastwood Park, 3001 Parkwood St.

Each event will offer prizes and giveaways, including Pokémon team hats. There will also be music, games, and charging stations provided by El Paso Electric.

The player who has the best picture with Pokémon in a participating park posted to the Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page with the hashtag #ParkemonEP will win a special award.

A list of locations and times may be found by clicking on the Pokémon banner on the Parks and Recreation website www.elpasotexas.gov/parks.

The El Paso Police Department has the following safety tips for those who play Pokémon Go:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and watch where you are going
  • Do not drive a vehicle, ride  a bicycle or skateboard while playing
  • Do not trespass or enter onto property that is not yours
  • Do not go out alone and always take a friend.
  • Make sure somebody is aware of your whereabouts
  • If you play at night, only go to well-lit areas.
