Three people, touched by the difficulties of war, are on a mission to help those fellow soldiers and their spouses who are suffering from PTSD. With the ‘Hug A Vet’ mission, the trio have crisscrossed the country, dispensing help, one hug at a time.
The Human Hug Project is made up of three people with three different lives, but all face one obstacle- PTSD. Together, they are the Human Hug Project.
Ian Michael is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Gino Greganti is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. Erin Greganti is a Marine Corps wife who experienced war and its aftermath at home.
All three use their own experience with isolation, anxiety and depression to help other veterans cope with theirs – all through the healing power of a simple hug. Their objective is a simple one: to travel across the country giving out hugs at VA hospitals. Through their events, the Gregantis and Michael live up to the motto displayed on their website, “Our mission is to bring awareness to P. T. S. D. by giving love back to humanity, one hug at a time.”
Their journey is documented via their facebook page, and their message spread via social media, using the hashtag #Hugavet.
According to their website, the Human Hug Project has visited more than 20 VA facilities, but are aiming to hit every VA in the country and have a gofundme to help them accomplish that.
