El Paso Pro-Musica, the UTEP Center for Arts Entrepreneurship Artistic Director Zuill Bailey has partnered with EPISD, to provide a special virtual “After School,” event designed to reach students, teachers and parents.
Zuill performed works by Bach, American Composer Lucas Foss, and shared stories about his days in school, growing up in a musical family, where his parents were music educators and how his cello is getting him through the Quarantine phase of his life.
“The most rewarding thing about being a cellist is to reach out to a whole new generation of music enthusiasts and potentials performers. I hope I can inspire students who are involved in Band and Orchestra and the arts so that they can pursue their dreams like I did,” Bailey said.
The Virtual presentation was Live on the EPPM El Paso Pro-Musica Facebook page in collaboration with EPISD; that performance can be viewed above.
This week, Zuill and his UTEP Grad Student Chris Beroes-Haigis, created another virtual collaboration that turned a Cello into a Guitar.
The piece, “Sicilienne,” by Maria Von Paradis, a contemporary of Mozart, has a very modern feel which inspired both cellists. Click here to view their performance.
