The UTEP volleyball team will be in action on Saturday at the University of Arizona in the first tournament of the spring. The Miners will begin action against Arizona at 11 a.m. MT at the McKale Center.
“We will be seeing some very talented teams this weekend with a chance to see what we still need to improve on and also where improvements are being made,” head coach Holly Watts said.
The Miners are also scheduled to play against Arizona State at 12 p.m., NM State at 2 p.m. and will round up the tournament in a match-up against AZ Reg, a team of former collegiate athletes, at 3 p.m.
“It will be a new challenge to see how we make adjustments versus tabs we don’t see everyday in practice”, Watts said. “We want to see effort and determination from our team, as well as some technical and tactical adjustments we have been making in practice.”
UTEP is coming off a 2015 campaign, where the team posted a 9-23 record overall and a 3-13 record in Conference USA.
The Orange and Blue will face NM State again next Thursday, April 7 in Las Cruces, N.M. before hosting a tournament on April 16.
