Austin Hedges hit a three-run walk-off home run in front of a sellout crowd to give the El Paso Chihuahuas a 4-1 win over the Reno Aces Sunday night at Southwest University Park.
It was El Paso’s second walk-off homer of the year and the third in Chihuahuas’ history. It was Hedges’ 12th home run in his last 14 games.
Bryan Rodriguez pitched eight innings and allowed only one run in the longest start by a Chihuahuas’ pitcher this season. He fell two outs shy of Jason Lane’s record for the longest start in team history. Frank Garces pitched a 1-2-3 top of the ninth to get the win on the day he was activated from the disabled list.
Hunter Renfroe went 2-for-4 with his league-leading 19th homer of the season. The Chihuahuas took three of four from Reno on the homestand and won six of the nine games over the past nine days versus the Aces.
