UTEP trailed 9-13 but kept it close early in the second frame until a 6-1 run by Western Kentucky extended its lead to 19-10. The Miners went on a 3-0 run of their own late in the set but it was not enough as the Toppers took the stanza 25-18.

The teams went back and forth early in the third but Western Kentucky extended the lead once again with a 9-1 run. UTEP was only able to hammer two more set points as the Toppers ultimately claimed the frame 25-15 and the match 3-0.

The UTEP volleyball team will continue in action at home as they set to battle it out against UAB on Friday at 3 p.m. (MT) and Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. (MT) on Sunday.
