Woman still in hospital after 4 vehicle wreck on Wedensday

A serious wreck in Far-East El Paso Wednesday morning sends a woman to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The crash occurred on Loop 375 South near Montwood, just after  7:30 a.m. when a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 23-year-old Jacquelyn Juarez, was struck by a 2014 Ford F350, driven by 54-year-old Julian Carrizal, that was also traveling south.

Police say the initial collision led to a chain reaction that included two other vehicles, with a total of 4 vehicles involved in this crash. Special Traffic Investigators say Juarez sustained life-threatening injuries and rushed to Del Sol Medical Center.

Investigators have learned that traffic was slowing due to a high volume of vehicles on the roadway. that’s when they allege Carrizal, the driver of the Ford F350, failed to control his speed and struck the rear of Hyundai.

21-year-old Ashley Chavez, the driver a Nissan Sentra, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Providence Hospital East. Two other drivers involved in the wreck did not report any injuries to police. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.

Officials add that Juarez was last reported to be in critical but stable condition at the hospital.

No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation continues
