I was attending Hispanicize, a huge digital / media conference in Miami, FL last week when I was pleasantly surprised to hear El Paso, TX being honored!
Hispancize gathers some of the nation’s most popular Latino bloggers, viners and digital influencers for a week long conference intruding the newest methods in tech and media.
During one of the evening events, The Positive Impact Awards, I was completely shocked and proud to hear Hispanicize founder and CEO, Manny Ruiz, present two young women from El Paso for their forging efforts in brining tech to the next generation of Latinas.
As last year’s winners, they returned to the stage to present this year’s ‘Person of the Year’ award to Veronica Herrera.
Co-founders Alicia Rascon and Laura Donnelly-Gonzalez proudly accepted their recognition in 2015, for their organization, Latinitas, ‘a non-profit organization focused on informing, entertaining, and inspiring young Latinas to grow into healthy, confident, and successful Latinas. Whose mission is to empower Latina youth through media and technology.’ [LasLatinitas.com]
Rascon is an El Paso native and the founding duo returned to the West Texas area to open the El Paso chapter of Latinitas. Hispanicize specifically wanted to honor the chapters work for their strides in the El Paso area.
Among the Latinos at the Postive Impact Awards, on stage with the El Paso team, was also, actress / activist Rosario Dawson, American Idol contestant, Karen Rodriguez and Founder and CEO of Hispanicize, Manny Ruiz.
Hispancize is in its 7th consecutive year of holding the mega conference, “Hispanicize 2016 gathered more than 3,000 of the nation’s most influential Latino professionals from the industries of digital content creation, journalism, music, marketing, film and business over five days. This event is a launch pad for creative endeavors, new products, technologies, marketing campaigns, films, books and more targeting Latinos in the U.S. and/or Puerto Rico” [HispanicizeWire.com]
