Ysleta ISD announces appointment of new principal, director

The Ysleta ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Candice Arispe as the new Alicia Chacon International School principal, and David Medina as the district’s new Director of Special Education, effective Dec. 1.

Arispe, who is currently serving as assistant principal at Alicia Chacon International School, has 15 years of experience in the education field. She began her career in 2006 as a third-grade teacher at Pasodale Elementary School, and later taught in grades 4-6 and served as an instructional coach and assistant principal.

Arispe earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a master’s degree from Arkansas State University. Medina, current principal of Eastwood Knolls International School, began his
career in education in 1999 as a teacher. He went on to serve in multiple roles in Special Education as a teacher, mentor teacher, instructional specialist, and coordinator. Medina has also served at Ysleta ISD as an assistant principal and principal.

Medina holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, both from UTEP.
