In preparation for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year, the Ysleta Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of new principals at eight campuses, effective July 1. The new principals are as follows:
- Dolores Acosta, current principal at Cedar Grove Elementary School, will serve as the principal of the Cesar Chavez Sixth Grade Academy. Acosta, whose career at Ysleta ISD spans 37 years, has served as a bilingual teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal.
- Amy Alarcon, current principal at Del Valle Middle School, is the new principal of Ysleta Elementary School. Alarcon has worked as an Ysleta ISD educator for 16 years, serving as an integrated physics and chemistry teacher, biology teacher, and assistant principal.
- Veronica Frias, current principal at Lancaster Elementary School, is the new principal of Del Valle Middle School. Frias, an educator for 24 years, has served as a teacher, schoolwide project coordinator, and assistant principal.
- Norma Sierra, current principal at Mesa Vista Elementary School, has been appointed principal of Lancaster Elementary School. An Ysleta ISD educator for 32 years, Sierra has served as a teacher, schoolwide project coordinator, curriculum specialist, and assistant principal.
- Dr. Sandra Calzada, current principal at Rio Bravo Middle School, will serve as the new principal of Desertaire Elementary School. An Ysleta ISD educator for 27 years, Calzada has also served as an elementary and middle school teacher, and assistant principal.
- Michelle Romero, current principal at Tierra Del Sol Elementary School, will serve as principal of Mission Valley Elementary School. Romero has been an educator for 27 years, serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, and assistant principal.
- Robert Robledo, current assistant principal at Riverside High School, will serve as principal of Eastwood Knolls International School. Robledo began his career in education in 2006 as an Ysleta High School teacher, and has also served as an Advanced Placement teacher and assistant principal.
- Antonio Acuña, current principal at Del Valle High School, is the new principal of Cesar Chavez Academy. Acuña, an educator with Ysleta ISD for 29 years, has previously served as a teacher, instructional technology teacher, assistant principal, and principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
