The Ysleta Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of James Vasquez as the new Associate Superintendent of Student Services, a role he has been fulfilling on an interim basis since March.
Vasquez, a 27-year veteran in education, began his career as a third-grade teacher in 1995 before being promoted to several positions over the years at Socorro ISD, including curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. He joined Ysleta ISD in 2016 as director of the Pupil and Parent Services Department, where he worked collaboratively with students, parents, and administrators to provide information and resolve concerns at the campus and district levels on a variety of issues.
Vasquez currently serves on Ysleta ISD’s District Crisis Management Response Team and the District Safety Committee, working closely with campuses and departments to develop and maintain processes to ensure stakeholder safety.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from UTEP.
Given Vasquez’s current relationships with district stakeholders and memberships in critical district committees, district officials say they’re confident his strengths will be an asset to the district without creating undue hardship.
