In preparation for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year, the Ysleta Independent School District announced Wednesday the appointment of new principals at four campuses, effective July 1.
Rita Lopez, current principal at Parkland Pre-K Center, has been chosen to serve as principal at Ysleta Pre-K Center. Lopez began her career in education as a teacher at Pasodale Elementary/Junior High in 1980, and has also served as an assistant principal, principal, and executive director.
Lopez holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, both from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
Cecilia Perez, current assistant principal at Ysleta Elementary School, has been appointed to fill the vacant principal position at Ysleta Elementary School. Perez, whose career spans 22 years at Ysleta ISD, has also worked as a pre-K teacher, monolingual and bilingual teacher, and campus technologist.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s degree in Educational Administration, both from UTEP.
Sandra Perez, current principal at Hacienda Heights Elementary School, has been named the new principal at Parkland Pre-K Center.
In her 22-year tenure at Ysleta ISD, Perez has served as a teacher, literacy leader, and assistant principal, and is the former principal of Ysleta Pre-K Center and Del Valle Elementary School. Perez holds a bachelor’s degree in Bilingual Education and a master’s degree in Educational Administration, both from UTEP.
Darlene Solis, current assistant principal at Ramona Elementary School, will fill the vacant principal position at Ramona Elementary School.
Solis began her career in education in 1999 as a second-grade teacher at Aoy Elementary School in El Paso ISD, and later went on to serve as a counselor and assistant principal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, both from UTEP.
