Ysleta ISD schools begin new year at top of local rankings

The Ysleta Independent School District welcomed students back to its campuses Monday for the 2022-23 school year, providing free school supplies for each student as several of its campuses maintain their standings as the best-ranked public schools in the El Paso area.

According to Niche, a leading platform connecting students with colleges and schools, Ysleta ISD is the top-ranked school district in the El Paso area, with its schools holding seven of the top 10 spots among local public schools on its 2022 Best Schools in the El Paso Area rankings list. Those seven schools are:

 

  • Valle Verde Early College High School (No. 1)
  • Young Women’s Leadership Academy (No. 2)
  • North Star Elementary School (No. 3)
  • Ramona Elementary School (No. 6)
  • Vista Hills Elementary School (No. 7)
  • Alicia R. Chacon International School grades K-8 (No. 8)
  • Tierra Del Sol Elementary School (No. 10)

 

Many of these schools are also among the top-ranked public schools in the area according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best K-8 Schools Rankings. They are:

 

Middle schools

  • Young Women’s Leadership Academy (No. 1)
  • Alicia R. Chacon International School grades K-8 (No. 2)
  • Eastwood Middle School (No. 6)
  • Eastwood Knolls International School (No. 8)

 

Elementary schools

  • Ramona Elementary School (No. 4)
  • North Star Elementary School (No. 6)
  • Alicia Chacon International School grades K-8 (No. 7)
  • Vista Hills Elementary School (No. 9)

 

Ysleta ISD is an open-enrollment district serving about 37,000 students, including the city’s first-ever college-preparatory Young Women’s Leadership Academy and four National Blue Ribbon School award-winning campuses since 2017. The district also offers four early college high school programs; four international schools; full-day pre-K programs and a preschool program for 3-year-olds; and an exceptional high-school athletics program that has resulted in five Texas championships since 2018.
