Thirty-two teams of Ysleta ISD elementary school students will compete to determine who built the most innovative robots at the Elementary VEX Robotics Tournament, which takes place at two sites at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.
There will be multiple opportunities for photos and videos of students demonstrating their sophisticated STEM skills, particularly as the teams prepare/program their robots for competition in the “pits.”
What: VEX Robotics Competition
When: 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13
Who: Ysleta ISD Elementary School students, teachers, advisers, administrators, community members
Where: Bracket A and Bracket B schools will compete in groups (see below) at two sites:
- Ysleta ISD Central Office, 9600 Sims Drive (Bracket A schools)
- Ysleta Middle School, 8691 Independence Drive (Bracket B schools)
VEX Robotics – an educational robotics program – helps teach the engineering design process in a hands-on manner that challenges, motivates, and inspires students. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test in Vex Robotics Tournaments as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. Participating schools are divided into the following two brackets:
