YWCA El Paso del Norte Region Hosts Geena Davis as Women’s Luncheon Speaker

Two-time Academy award-winning actor Geena Davis served as the speaker at YWCA El Paso del Norte Region’s (YWCA) 28th Annual Women’s Luncheon.

The luncheon took place Thursday, April 27th at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center.

Over the past 28 years, the YWCA Women’s Luncheon has raised more than $10 million to support YWCA programs in the El Paso community. These funds provide access to excellent educational opportunities, supportive services for women and children who have survived family violence, workforce development and life skills trainings, affordable housing, social equity programming, and more. Although the speaker is always a big draw for attendees, the luncheon is an opportunity for the El Paso community to learn more about, and support, YWCA programs.

“The YWCA Women’s Luncheon is our largest fundraiser and makes it possible for YWCA to impact and benefit thousands of people in the El Paso community,” said YWCA CEO Sereka Barlow. “Everyone who joined us today had a hand in creating a successful event that will change countless lives.”

“The Women’s Luncheon always provides an afternoon of inspiration and empowerment,” said Michele Miller, YWCA Board President. “Geena Davis’ advocacy for gender equity and representation in media made her the perfect speaker at this year’s Women’s Luncheon!”

This year, approximately 2200 community members attended the Women’s Luncheon to hear from Geena Davis and learn more about the YWCA’s impact and programs.
